Local governments face disputes over heritage and security projects

In Mexico, a dispute has emerged between the Chihuahua state government and the municipality of Guadalupe y Calvo regarding the installation of a 'Subcentro Centinela' security hub. State Secretary General Santiago de la Peña Grajeda accused the local administration of resisting the project, which aims to use technology to improve police response times in violent areas like Atascaderos. The municipality has countered by proposing alternative locations to protect buildings considered historical heritage, leading to a continued stalemate over the project's implementation.
