Local governments in Borsele and Geel announce new investments

The municipal council in Borsele, Netherlands, has approved a €600,000 investment to establish a cultural incubator. The project aims to discover and develop local talent while providing creative perspectives on regional challenges, such as the changing landscape. The initiative is designed to align with the Regio Deal to attract and retain young residents by connecting the incubator with education, businesses, and social organizations. The project is expected to be housed in a sheepfold.

In Geel, Belgium, the city has proposed a multi-year plan for 2026-2031 involving €138 million in investments. Key projects include a renovated cultural center, a spray park near the swimming pool, and a sports and play park in Winkelomheide. Despite facing annual revenue losses of €2.6 million due to decisions from Flemish and federal governments, the city aims to maintain essential services and infrastructure without increasing supplementary taxes, though service rates will be adjusted to reflect actual costs.
