Local governments in Colombia initiate community participation sessions

Municipal authorities in Colombia are launching initiatives to increase citizen engagement in local governance and territorial planning.

In Montería, the City Council has organized a community session titled “¡Guateque! El Concejo llega a tu comunidad” for Saturday, October 24. Held at the Guateque Educational Institution, the event aims to allow residents of the Guateque rural district to directly present their needs, concerns, and priority proposals to council members to facilitate institutional action.

Simultaneously, the administration of Rionegro has entered the formulation phase of its Land Use Plan (POT). Starting Saturday, October 24, the municipality will host workshops across various communes and rural districts, including the Occidental, Centro, Norte, and Sur sectors. These workshops follow a diagnostic phase presented to the Rionegro City Council and are designed to gather community input to guide the municipality’s growth, organization, and territorial transformation.
