Local governments invest in community sports infrastructure

Local governments in Argentina and Mexico are investing in the renovation of community sports facilities.

In Argentina, the municipality has announced an investment of approximately 65 million pesos to transform a site in the Marchetti neighborhood. The project includes the construction of a 60 by 30 meter regulation football pitch with grass seeding, an intensive irrigation system, perimeter fencing, lighting, and urban furniture. The works also involve hydraulic infrastructure, such as drainage ditches and reinforced concrete pipes.

In Mexico, Governor David Monreal Ávila inaugurated the renovated fast football court at the La Llerena Sports Unit in Sombrerete, Zacatecas. The project, costing over 436,000 pesos, was a joint effort between the Zacatecas State Youth Institute and the Sombrerete City Council. This initiative is part of the ‘Transforming Spaces for Youth’ program, which has allocated more than 6.5 million pesos this year to recover public spaces for the benefit of approximately 9,000 young people.
