Local heritage initiatives launched in Połaniec and Kowala
Various local cultural initiatives are being organized in Poland to promote regional history and heritage through community engagement.
In Połaniec, the ‘Slow Jogging Połaniec’ group is launching the ‘Actively Following the History of Połaniec’ project. This initiative combines physical activity with cultural education, featuring field workshops and the creation of three historical information boards equipped with QR codes. The project will culminate in an intergenerational outdoor event on October 11, 2026, involving a 6 km route through significant sites including the Kościuszko Mound, the Vistula Escarpment, and the site of the former Połaniec castellany stronghold.
In the Kowala municipality, the ‘History in Frame’ series will host an event at the Father Roman Kotlarz Memorial Chamber in Trablice on September 4, 2026. The program includes a screening of the documentary-fiction film ‘The Painted Resurrection of Poland according to Jacek Malczewski’. The event aims to connect national history and the struggle for independence, as depicted in Malczewski’s art, with local heritage, specifically honoring the legacy of Father Roman Kotlarz and the workers of the June 1976 protests.
