Local history and anniversaries marked in Dülmen and Viersen

In Dülmen, the Heimatverein Dülmen presented a new picture book detailing the history of the Pins family, a Jewish family that once lived at Kirchplatz. The project was inspired by archaeological findings of the family's former residence near the town hall and the discovery of historical police files. The book, written by Markus Trautmann and illustrated by Bärbel Spangenberg, aims to present these sensitive historical themes in a way that is accessible to children.

In Viersen, the Erasmus-von-Rotterdam-Gymnasium celebrated its 150th anniversary. The commemorative event featured historical documents, photographs, and musical performances by the Erasmus Symphoniker. Local officials and community leaders reflected on the school's evolution from a humanist and girls' gymnasium into its current form, noting how the institution has shaped generations within the city.
