Local housing development proposals submitted in Brighton and Westbury
Two separate residential development proposals have been submitted in the United Kingdom.
In Brighton, Brighton and Hove City Council has applied to replace the 1970s Oakley House with a five-storey block containing 20 flats. The project, located at the corner of Tillstone Street, Edward Street, and Leicester Street, would demolish the existing wood store and flats to provide a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom homes. While heritage officers noted the current building is not significant, neighbors have raised 15 objections citing concerns over the building's height and its potential impact on the East Cliff and Queen’s Park conservation areas.
In Westbury, an outline planning application has been submitted to Wiltshire Council for a three-storey extension at 32 High Street. The proposal aims to create three one-bedroom flats adjacent to the town’s banking hub. The plan involves retaining the existing building, with the ground floor continuing to serve as a banking hub and the new extension providing residential space on the first and second floors, alongside parking and cycle storage.
