Local infrastructure and healthcare services face criticism in Brazil
Residents in Piraí do Norte are reporting significant infrastructure issues in the Miranda region. A local resident has denounced the precarious state of roads, stating that the poor conditions prevent school transport from reaching families. Although the municipal government provided a vehicle, it cannot enter the community, forcing children to walk distances of approximately five kilometers to access education.
In Sena Madureira, the closure of the Carlos Afonso health unit has sparked public criticism. The facility was the only local unit providing medical and dental services during nighttime hours. Former municipal health secretary Daniel Herculano raised concerns that residents who work during the day will now be forced to seek care at the João Câncio Fernandes Hospital, which is already facing high demand, potentially complicating access to urgent care and dental services.
