Local infrastructure developments announced in Berkelland and Westerwolde

In Berkelland, the municipality and Aannemersbedrijf Kormelink have signed a construction team agreement for a new sports hall in Ruurlo. The project follows a European tender process and involves a collaborative team including Architecten Voor Morgen, Lucassen Bouwconstructies, Arends Advies, DOC17 Bouwmanagement, FLOW Installatieadvies, and Klein Poelhuis Installatietechniek.

The development aims to meet the specific needs of local sports associations and schools. If the current phase proceeds as planned, a contracting agreement will be signed in early 2027, with construction expected to begin in mid-2027 and take approximately one year to complete.

In Westerwolde, the sports fields on Raadhuisstraat have been designated as the preferred location for a new joint educational facility in Blijham. The municipality is collaborating with CBS De Loopplank and Kindcentrum De Wiekslag on the project.

The selection process considered feedback from residents, school boards, and local associations regarding lighting, greenery, and parking. Future planning will focus on integrating education and sports facilities while exploring space for social and community services.
