Local infrastructure improvements enhance accessibility in Italian communities

New residential and educational facilities in Italy are being upgraded to improve accessibility and support for vulnerable populations.

In Via dei Lauri, a former elementary school has been repurposed into a residential facility designed to support the autonomy of non-self-sufficient elderly residents. Funded by approximately 560,000 euros from the PNRR, the project aims to promote active aging through professional activities and a familiar living environment. The renovation included structural upgrades such as a new wooden roof, a kitchen, improved sanitary services, an elevator, and an external ramp to accommodate reduced mobility.

In Chiavari, the Mazzini Est primary school has removed architectural barriers with the installation of a new elevator costing 145,000 euros. This project completes a larger 1.3 million euro redevelopment program initiated in 2021, which focused on structural improvements, safety, and energy efficiency. The new installation ensures better access for students, staff, and families.
