Local initiatives and political exchanges in Germany

In North Rhine-Westphalia, State Parliament member Ellen Stock participated in a job exchange with local carpenters from the company ‘Das schöne Möbel’. Stock spent a day learning the various stages of woodworking, from order confirmation to final production, and assisted in building a fitted wardrobe. In return, business owners Johannes Steinbach and Stefan Glatthor visited the North Rhine-Westphalia State Parliament to observe a plenary session and discuss economic challenges, including labor markets, succession planning, and vocational training.

In Hanover, the ‘Arbeitsgemeinschaft Soziale Arbeit Linden-Limmer’ of the Diakonisches Werk received 750 euros from the DIE LINKE parliamentary group. The funds were used to purchase ten thermal overalls capable of withstanding temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius to assist homeless individuals during winter. The group also acquired Styrodur insulation boards for loan. The initiative, which includes a monthly community meal program, continues to rely on donations to provide winter clothing and hygiene items.
