Local Italian authorities implement transport and school schedule changes
In Genoa, the metropolitan mayor Silvia Salis announced that Amt will implement a new winter schedule for extra-urban services starting Monday, September 14, 2026. The new schedule aims to address requests from local municipalities, though Salis noted that economic and management constraints remain. A technical committee will be established to monitor the service and address ongoing issues, particularly regarding Saturday connections, valley links, and services for workers and healthcare needs.
In Amantea, Mayor Vincenzo Pellegrino has issued an ordinance to protect students and staff from high temperatures. Due to persistent heatwaves and a lack of adequate cooling systems in school buildings, all educational activities will end early at 11:30 AM. This measure applies to all levels of schooling and will remain in effect until further notice, depending on temperature trends and guidance from health authorities.
