Local Italian municipalities face criticism over urban planning and parking
Local administrations in Italy are facing criticism from residents and political groups regarding urban planning and parking management.
In Bra, members of the Bra Domani group have criticized the handling of the Rita Levi Montalcini school courtyard project. They argued that the administration lacks a long-term vision for the city and proposed alternatives to the planned 12,000 square meters of asphalt, such as underground parking or silos, to promote green spaces and sustainable mobility.
In Lecce, residents of Via Cavallotti have accused the municipality of failing to meet urban standards by removing public parking spaces. Representatives of the residents' committee claim the removal of public stalls coincides suspiciously with the opening of a private parking facility. Despite these accusations, the municipality has confirmed that the removed parking spaces will not be restored and that public transport routes will remain unchanged.
