Local leaders discuss social and urban transformation in Spain

In Talavera, Deputy Mayor María Pilar Guerrero inaugurated the V University Volunteering Forum of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). The event included the delivery of the IV Volunteering Program Awards, highlighting the collaboration between the university, local institutions, and social entities to foster an inclusive and participatory society.

Separately, at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Tomiño Mayor Sandra González participated in the forum ‘Territories that Lead: The Future Begins Locally’. González discussed the transformation of Tomiño’s urban model, which focuses on reclaiming public spaces from vehicle traffic to create safer, greener, and more accessible areas for residents. She emphasized that local governments serve as engines for social and territorial transformation through citizen participation and human-centered urban planning.
