In Elm-Asse, Germany, Dirk Neumann was ceremoniously retired following 45 years of service, including seven years as the Samtgemeindebürgermeister. During the council meeting, several council members were also honored upon their departure following local elections.

In Wolfau, Austria, Walter Pfeiffer stepped down as mayor after 24 years in office. Thomas Kureck, the former vice-mayor, was elected as the sole candidate to succeed him. Ronald Kainz was unanimously elected to the newly vacant position of vice-mayor.
