Local mayoral candidates present platforms in Bovec and Koper

In Bovec, three candidates—Siniša Germovšek, Damir Čopi, and Kristjan Omerović—are preparing to present their plans for the municipality following the three-term tenure of Valter Mlekuž. Key issues facing the future mayor include the revitalization of the Kanin ski resort, managing mass tourism to protect the Soča Valley's environment, and addressing traffic congestion at the Kluže fortress and Vršič pass. Candidates will also address the long-delayed construction of a school gymnasium and strategies to retain young residents amidst high real estate prices.

In Koper, Nik Popovič of the 'Koper je naš' party has announced his candidacy, emphasizing a service-oriented approach to municipal governance. His platform includes road renovations, reducing parking fees—including free parking during specific hours and weekends—and constructing a new underground garage at the market. Popovič also proposes building 400 non-profit rental apartments for young people, developing a science and technology park, and expanding local tourism through the return of traditional events like 'Rumena noč' and 'Fešta kalamarov'.
