Local mayors hold citizen assemblies in German municipalities

Mayors in several German municipalities held citizen assemblies to discuss local governance, finances, and community development.

In Aichach, Mayor Josef Dußmann reported positive financial trends, noting that income and trade tax revenues are expected to exceed initial projections. He highlighted that the city might avoid new debt, with the debt level projected to drop from 19 million to approximately 10 million euros by year-end. Discussions also covered childcare deficits, which have risen significantly over the last decade, and the availability of discounted residential building plots in the Himmelreich and Franz-Beck-Straße areas.

In Günzburg, Lord Mayor Michael Jahn addressed community concerns regarding energy storage for solar power, traffic safety involving parked trucks in the Unterstadt, and the future of the St. Martin parish center, which is being considered for residential development in coordination with the Diocese of Augsburg.

In Wettstetten and Echenzell, the administration scheduled assemblies to report on recent decisions, fire department activities, and the introduction of a new senior management district scheduled for October 2026.
