Local mourning declared in Bortigiadas and Praiano

The Italian towns of Bortigiadas and Praiano are observing periods of mourning following the deaths of prominent local figures.

In Bortigiadas, Mayor Emiliano Deiana declared official municipal mourning for Stefano Spano, who passed away on October 23, 2026. Spano was recognized for his contributions to local work, sports, and social life. As part of the mourning ordinance, flags on public buildings will be flown at half-mast, and a period of suspended commercial and work activities has been scheduled to coincide with the funeral ceremony at the San Nicola di Bari parish church.

In Praiano, the family of Don Pio has expressed gratitude to the community for the support received following his passing. The Bozza family, through the San Gennaro Parish, extended thanks to the local communities of Agerola, Furore, and Tovere, as well as the Archdiocese of Amalfi-Cava de’ Tirreni, for their condolences and presence.
