Local officials in Croatia raise concerns over public spending and financial oversight

In Split, city councilor Jakov Prkić has announced intentions to initiate a thematic session of the City Council regarding the operations of the Croatian National Theatre (HNK) Split. Prkić is seeking clarification on specific financial matters, including an invoice for the recording of the opera ‘Kraljica lopte’ and potential compensation agreements with the City of Split. He has requested documentation to address conflicting reports regarding recording costs and has urged the theatre to present a formal report on its programmatic and financial performance to its founder.

Separately, in the Primorsko-goranska County, councilor Leo Pavela has raised concerns regarding the county's proposal to purchase the PIK complex for 3.828 million euros to serve as an educational and art center. Pavela questioned the valuation, noting that the property had previously been on the market for approximately 2.8 million euros. He called for a feasibility study and a detailed cost analysis before proceeding, citing concerns over the total projected costs for reconstruction and long-term maintenance.
