Local organizations in the Netherlands receive donations for community and nature projects

Several Dutch organizations have issued donations to support local community and environmental initiatives.

In Maassluis, Lely has donated €30,000 to Stichting Dierenhoek ’t Sparretje. The funds will support the maintenance of a petting zoo and animal meadows across three locations, including the Sparrendal. The donation will facilitate repairs to goat stables, aviaries, horse stalls, and fencing, as well as reseeding ground and replacing wooden structures. These sites serve as community meeting points and educational spaces for local schools.

Separately, De Traay has donated €2,013 to the Odin apiary to enhance biodiversity at the Hoeve Sonneclaer organic farm and campsite in Fluitenberg. The contribution, raised through a honey product sales campaign, will fund recommendations from a recent ecological study. Planned improvements include the construction of a earth berm and the planting of nectar- and pollen-producing shrubs to support local insect populations, including various species of solitary bees and hoverflies.
