Local parking and traffic restrictions spark protests in Paternò and Brescia

Local residents and political groups in Italy are raising concerns regarding urban mobility and parking management in their respective municipalities.

In Paternò, a resident has reported ongoing issues on via Emanuele Bellia, where vehicles are reportedly parked in a herringbone pattern on blue lines. The resident claims this practice makes it difficult for those with specific parking permits to find spaces and has called for increased enforcement and more frequent patrols to ensure compliance with parking regulations.

In Brescia, the Forza Italia party has launched a petition to oppose the implementation of Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL) in via San Faustino and via Tosio. The group is also protesting the conversion of free parking spaces into paid blue zones in the Castello area. Citing data from Confesercenti, local coordinator Flavio Bonardi noted that 287 businesses have closed in the historic center between 2019 and 2025, arguing that increased traffic restrictions and parking costs could further harm local neighborhood commerce.
