Local performing arts events held in Nagano and Akita prefectures

In Nagano Prefecture, the Minami Shinshu Art Lab performed ‘Zakoji version Ochi’ at the former Zakoji Miso School building in Iida City. The production, part of the ‘Chisan Chisho’ series, featured a script by Chieko Noguchi and direction by Akira Katoki. This year’s performance incorporated recordings of children’s voices from local workshops, blending traditional storytelling with live music including piano, shamisen, and Japanese instruments.

In Akita Prefecture, students at Ota Kita Elementary School in Daisen City are preparing for their 20th musical production. This performance marks the school’s final stage before its scheduled merger at the end of the academic year. The school’s musical program is characterized by professional collaboration, with theater experts handling scripts and direction while local professionals manage technical aspects.
