Local police forces recognized in Castilla-La Mancha and Tres Cantos
In Castilla-La Mancha, the regional government has formally recognized the professionalism and public service vocation of the local police force. During the closing of the XXIV Ordinary Assembly of the Professional Union of Local Police of Castilla-La Mancha in Consuegra, Director General of Citizen Protection Emilio Puig highlighted that the region currently employs 2,139 local police officers, including 259 women. These officers serve in municipalities where more than 80% of the regional population resides.
In Tres Cantos, an annual gala honored 32 individuals and entities for their contributions to security and collaboration. A special plaque was awarded to Atanasio Mata in recognition of his nearly 40-year career leading the local police force. Other distinctions included medals for members of the Civil Guard and the National Intelligence Centre (CNI), as well as awards for municipal workers, local associations, and citizens who assisted during summer wildfires.
