Local political appointments in Zwartewaterland and Merelbeke-Melle

Several local political changes have occurred in Zwartewaterland and Merelbeke-Melle.

In Zwartewaterland, Ine Margriet Westhoff has been officially appointed as the new municipal clerk. A jurist by training with previous experience in the legal profession and as a management advisor, Westhoff has worked for the municipality since 2018. She succeeds Femke Koekoek, who served in an interim capacity. Westhoff will be responsible for supporting the municipal council and managing the clerk's office.

In Merelbeke-Melle, Tijl De Witte will join the municipal council representing the Groen party. He succeeds Gerda De Backer, who has resigned from her mandate. De Witte brings previous experience to the role, having served seven years on the Melle municipal council. He replaces De Backer following the decision of other candidates on the electoral list to decline the mandate.
