Local political assessments mark first year of mandates in Aveiro and Guimarães

In Aveiro, Luís Souto, president of the Aliança Com Aveiro coalition (PSD-CDS-PPM), marked the first anniversary of his administration with a call for continued mobilization. Souto emphasized that the coalition's victory was significant as it represents the only PSD-led district capital in the Central Region. He expressed gratitude to the volunteers and independent supporters who contributed to the campaign and warned against political opponents seeking to create division.

In Guimarães, the CDU coalition criticized the PSD/CDS executive for a lack of significant changes during its first year of governance. The CDU highlighted several unresolved issues, including infrastructure maintenance, flood prevention measures in Veiga de Creixomil, and mobility constraints affecting access to the Guimarães Hospital. The coalition also raised concerns regarding a 20.7% increase in rents for new housing contracts and the delayed implementation of free public transportation, which is now scheduled for 2027.
