Local political candidates outline platforms in Yellowknife and Utah

In Yellowknife, mayoral candidate Melissa Syer has detailed her platform focusing on three core pillars: a city that works, a city people choose, and a city with ambition. Her plan for the downtown area includes improving basic services like garbage collection, lighting, and sidewalk repairs, while also addressing homelessness through collaboration with the RCMP, businesses, and Indigenous partners. Syer also aims to support the local economy by championing local business campaigns and exploring a presence for Aurora College downtown.

In Utah's House District 59, candidate Luke Searle is campaigning on a platform of returning development control to local authorities. Searle has expressed intent to communicate with legislative leadership to repeal SB 258. Additionally, his platform addresses regional traffic concerns, including the need for improved flow in the Heber Valley and the addition of lanes on U.S. 40 to manage traffic more effectively.
