Local political controversies emerge in Guovdageaidnu and Kristiansand

In Guovdageaidnu, opposition members Johan Vasara and Kautokeino Ap are calling for a resolution to the After-School Care (SFO) situation. The municipality previously decided to privatize SFO services, citing a lack of space in the new school building as a necessity. However, critics argue the premises for this decision have collapsed, noting that space issues are no longer a problem, transport solutions were neither agreed upon nor financed, and the municipality cannot bypass employer responsibilities. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding a public contract worth nearly one million NOK being awarded without competition.

In Kristiansand, a proposal to sell the House of Art and Literature, which houses the local library, has faced significant public opposition. Critics argue the sale will result in financial losses as interest savings will be offset by rental costs. Beyond economics, opponents view the sale as a betrayal of free cultural access and a failure of the local government to listen to citizens, potentially damaging trust in the political system.
