Local political developments in Serbia and Hungary
In Subotica, Serbia, candidates from the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (VMSZ) held a meeting to discuss local infrastructure and party goals. Csilla Góli, a republican candidate, highlighted the progress of the ‘Clean Serbia’ project, noting that paving work on Milutin Uskoković Street is scheduled to begin soon. Bálint Pásztor, the VMSZ list leader, emphasized the construction of a roundabout on Majsai Road and noted that the Majsai Road Primary School has received 344,000 euros in funding over the last four years to support Hungarian-language education.
In Hungary, several municipalities, including Püspökladány, Medina, Bakonynána, and Szápár, are holding by-elections to determine new leadership. In Püspökladány, Zoltán Varga resigned from his position as deputy mayor and representative following the rejection of his proposal to stabilize the city's finances. Varga cited concerns over a 530 million forint revenue plan and the failure of a real estate sale agreement, stating that the current municipal operating conditions prevent responsible governance.
