Local political disputes arise in Pájara and San Miguel de Abona

In Pájara, the Partido Popular (PP) has called on Mayor Alejandro Jorge and the governing coalition of PSOE and CC to designate a pet-friendly beach before the current mandate ends. The PP claims that while technical analyses and municipal ordinance modifications were completed during the previous administration, the current government has stalled the process for three years despite demand from residents and tourists.

Meanwhile, in San Miguel de Abona, the PSOE is demanding transparency regarding the criteria used by the municipal government to distribute sports subsidies. The request follows a debate involving the Unión Deportiva Las Zocas, where the Councilor for Finance cited club categories and the number of registered athletes as key factors. The PSOE argues that the current explanations lack clarity on how these criteria are weighted or applied uniformly across all local sports entities.
