Local political groups in Girona and Sant Cugat demand improved municipal maintenance
In Girona, the PSC-Girona pel Canvi group has called on the municipal government to launch a comprehensive project to recover the Montjuïc Castle and improve its surrounding public spaces. The proposal aims to address the current state of degradation in the area, seeking to balance heritage protection with existing community uses, such as climbing and sports. The group is requesting investment for cleaning, maintenance, security, and the integration of the former mini-golf area with the existing gardens to create a higher-quality space for the neighborhood.
In Sant Cugat, the CUP political formation has warned that the city is unprepared for extreme weather events following recent torrential rains that caused flooding and material damage. The group highlighted the vulnerability of certain areas, such as Sant Jordi street and La Floresta, and called for improved preventive maintenance and reinforcement of high-risk points. Additionally, the CUP noted that public facilities, including schools and libraries, have suffered from recurring leaks and flooding, arguing that these buildings should serve as support centers during climate emergencies rather than becoming points of concern.
