Local politicians in Spain resign from municipal roles
Several local political figures in Spain have announced their resignations due to personal reasons.
In Tarifa, Jorge Benítez Navarro, the current first deputy mayor and leader of the 100X100 Unidos project, has decided not to continue with the political formation ahead of the 2027 municipal elections. Benítez stated that his decision was made months ago due to personal priorities, though he intends to complete his current mandate and has not ruled out a return to active politics before the next local elections.
In El Puig, Juan Miguel Marín Cabo has resigned from his position as councillor for Sports, Health, and Local Commerce. Marín, a member of the PSPV, cited personal reasons, noting that he can no longer provide the 100% dedication he believes the role requires. He expressed gratitude to the local government and Mayor Marc Oriola for their support during his three-year tenure.
