Local prevention initiatives launched in Italy

Various regional initiatives in Italy are focusing on fostering a culture of prevention through community engagement and education.

In Melfi, the Lions Club Melfi, supported by Polimedica, has organized ‘PREVENIRE INSIEME’, a health info day scheduled for October 30, 2026. The event aims to move beyond traditional medical conferences by hosting open conversations between citizens, medical professionals, and institutions. Key topics include early diagnosis, nutrition, metabolism, and personalized medicine. The initiative concludes an intensive ‘Pink October’ campaign focused on oncological, senological, and cardiovascular health.

In Montepiano, the local Civil Protection department has launched an educational project at Merope primary school to teach students how to recognize natural risks. Using mascots created by the students—Fiocco, Frosty, and Turbo—the program focuses on managing risks related to snow, ice, and wind. This follows a previous curriculum covering floods, landslides, fires, and earthquakes, aiming to build community safety through early childhood education.
