Local reading initiatives launched in Fórnoles and Montilla
In Fórnoles, a disused telephone booth has been transformed into a 24-hour street library. The project, led by Mayor Javier Vidal alongside Ana Omella and Martina de Titta, involved a small investment to paint and varnish the space, using recycled pallets to hold books and newspapers. The initiative encourages residents to exchange books, with the goal of fostering reading habits among all ages, including youth.
Meanwhile, in Montilla, the City Council has launched a new edition of its Reading Club through the Equality Department. The program currently includes over 30 women divided into two groups. This edition features a new focus on incorporating works by local female authors to highlight regional literary creation. The club combines individual reading with biweekly meetings to facilitate discussion and comprehension.
