Local senior advisory elections held in German municipalities
In Rüsselsheim am Main, preparations are underway for the election of the Senior Advisory Board scheduled for November 26, 2026. The board, which represents the interests of residents aged 60 and older to the local government, will consist of 16 members. The election will be conducted exclusively via mail-in ballot, with documents being sent automatically to eligible residents.
In Salzhemmendorf, a new Senior Council has been established following a recent election. The council aims to promote social participation, accessibility, and quality of life for older citizens. Martina Keese has been elected as the primary chairperson, supported by deputies Thomas Hundeshagen and Jutta Drögemüller. The council will serve as a liaison between senior citizens and local administration, clubs, and social institutions for the next five years.
