Local soup festivals held in Leiria and Águeda to support community causes

Two community-focused soup festivals are taking place in Portugal to support local social and religious initiatives.

In Leiria, the InPulsar Association for Community Development is hosting the seventh edition of the ‘Festival Sopas do Mundo’ at Mercado de Santana. Under the theme ‘The whole world in a spoon’, the event features international recipes prepared by local restaurants and community members to promote cultural integration. The festival includes a round table discussion titled ‘Cooking serves to integrate’, focusing on gastronomy as a tool for social inclusion. All proceeds benefit InPulsar projects that support vulnerable individuals in the Leiria municipality.

In Águeda, the Crastovães Social, Cultural, and Recreational Center will host a ‘Noite de Sopas’ on October 31. Organized by the Nossa Senhora de Lurdes Festival Commission, the event aims to raise funds for upcoming religious festivities. The initiative offers traditional Portuguese soup to encourage community solidarity and local tradition.
