Local traffic changes implemented in Kaltennordheim and Neuburg

In Kaltennordheim, Germany, the city center has officially transitioned to a 30 km/h speed zone. This measure, requested by the city council in summer 2023, aims to increase traffic safety. While major thoroughfares like Bundesstraße 285, Kirchstraße, and Ernst-Thälmann-Straße maintain higher limits, most side streets are now restricted to 30 km/h. New signage has been installed to communicate both speed limits and updated right-of-way regulations at key intersections.

In Neuburg, the city council has approved a trial for a pedestrian zone scheduled for spring 2027. From May to October of that year, Schmid, Färber, and Rosen streets will be closed to vehicle traffic every Saturday between 10:00 and 16:00. The city plans to collect data on pedestrian frequency during this period. The proposal faced debate regarding the frequency of the trials, with some officials suggesting a bi-weekly schedule to allow for better comparison with normal traffic days, though concerns were raised regarding the logistical burden on municipal workers.
