Local tree planting initiatives launched in Chieri and San Salvo

In Chieri, a dogwood tree has been planted in the hospital courtyard as part of the “Un albero per la salute” (A tree for health) project. This initiative, promoted by the Federation of Associations of Internal Medicine Hospital Managers in collaboration with the Carabinieri Biodiversity Group, aims to donate young trees to Italian hospitals. The project follows the “One Health” approach, which emphasizes the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health.

Bruno Osella, Director General of ASL TO5, stated that caring for people requires addressing their surroundings. The ASL TO5 has also established a “Green Team” to promote sustainable procedures and reduce the environmental impact of hospital activities. This tree is one of 33 planted in hospitals across Italy using specimens from the National Carabinieri Biodiversity Center.

In San Salvo, citizens from the 1956 age group donated an olive tree to the city, which was planted at the Via Aldo Moro roundabout. The gesture, intended to symbolize peace and community roots, included a commemorative plaque dedicated to the group. Local officials, including Mayor Emanuela De Nicolis, recognized the donation as a contribution to the city's green heritage.
