Local Trends Forum held in Poznań
The sixth edition of the Local Trends European Local Government Forum took place in Poznań, bringing together approximately 1,300 participants, including 200 speakers and representatives from local government, business, science, and public administration. The event featured 70 debates covering critical municipal challenges such as demographic changes, transport, education, healthcare, cybersecurity, energy, and new technologies.
Poznań County participated as a partner for the first time. Starosta Jan Grabkowski emphasized the need for collaborative planning and experience exchange, noting how interconnected sectors like road development, transport, and the economy are. Discussions also addressed public transport organization models and the management of educational institutions amidst declining student numbers and rising costs.
Representing the town of Reda, Iga Holk, chair of the Municipal Youth Council, participated in a panel regarding youth engagement in local and national governance. Reda is currently implementing the ‘City of the Future. Reda 2036’ project, which aims to involve young residents in shaping the city's future through workshops and debates on topics including education, safety, culture, and mental health. The project is expected to culminate in a formal document titled ‘Youth Position Reda 2036’ by June 2027.
