Local water shutoffs scheduled in Princeton, Canada and Whakatāne, New Zealand

The Town of Princeton in British Columbia will carry out an emergency water‑main repair on Thursday, Aug. 6, shutting off service to the Allison Flats neighbourhood from 8 a.m. to about 5 p.m. The outage will affect properties on Allison Avenue, Angela Avenue, Lachine Avenue, Riverside Avenue, Pine Street and Poplar Street. Residents are advised to store enough water for essential needs and to run taps after service is restored to clear any air or discoloration.

The Whakatāne District Council has announced planned water shutdowns for the week commencing 3 August 2026. On Thursday, 6 August, a shutdown from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will affect properties on Simpkins Street and McAlister Street. On Friday, 7 August, a shutdown from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will affect all properties on Kōhī Point Lookout Road and Ōtarawairere Road. Customers are asked to make alternative water arrangements if needed and to flush taps after service resumes.
