Local youth cultural and educational programs held in South Korea

Various regional initiatives in South Korea recently focused on youth engagement through traditional culture and creative education. In Pocheon, the Pocheon Education Support Office hosted the ‘2026 1st Pocheon Education Superintendent's RAS Chalk Art Project Festival’. Students participated in a three-stage curriculum involving local history exploration, collaborative chalk art creation, and digital mapping to transform the Pocheon General Stadium parking lot into an educational art map.

In Incheon, the Gachon Cultural Foundation held its 10th annual ‘Gachon Cultural Foundation Gwageo Exam’ at the Incheon Dohobu Government Office. Approximately 150 elementary students participated in a reenactment of the Joseon Dynasty civil service examination, wearing traditional scholar attire and writing essays on community heroes. Out of the participants, 33 students were awarded honors following a rigorous judging process.

Additionally, Geumcheon-gu in Seoul organized the ‘2026 Geumcheon Youth Leader Sports Challenge’ at Geumnarae Central Park. Around 100 youths participated in sports competitions they helped plan, alongside mental health support programs such as the ‘Geumnarae ON Mind Station’, which offered various emotional wellness activities.
