Localities in Poland expand access to automated external defibrillators
Various Polish municipalities are expanding their networks of automated external defibrillators (AED) to improve emergency response times for sudden cardiac arrest.
In the Wawer district of Warsaw, new AED points have been installed in public buildings, playgrounds, and markets. To support this initiative, free training sessions will be held on November 7, 2026, to teach residents how to recognize cardiac arrest and operate the devices. The program is funded through the Warsaw participatory budget.
In the Rzekuń municipality, 13 new AED units are being deployed. Seven will be placed in primary schools located in Laskowiec, Dzbenin, Rzekuń, Borawe, Drwęcza, and Ołdaki to protect students and staff. An additional six units will be installed outside public buildings, including the municipal office, libraries, and fire stations, ensuring accessibility even when buildings are closed.
