Loch Ness Monster sightings surpass 2025 totals

Reported sightings of the Loch Ness Monster in 2026 have already surpassed the total number of official reports recorded throughout 2025. As of August, there have been nine in-person sightings, with the total reaching 11 when including webcam footage.

Recent reports include an encounter by an Australian visitor, Oscar Gray, at Urquhart Castle on July 21. Gray described seeing a dark green, flat-topped head followed by two humps and ripples in the water, which he believed were caused by a swishing tail. The encounter was documented with a photograph and added to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.

Other recent sightings include a nine-year-old girl from Australia capturing a photo of a creature's head from a cruise boat, and an encounter in June involving a mysterious green mass spotted near Urquhart Castle.
