Lockbox horror film starring Carla Gugino to premiere in Brazil

The horror film ‘Lockbox’ (A Caixa do Demônio), starring Carla Gugino, is scheduled to premiere in Brazilian cinemas on October 22. Distributed by Diamond Films, the movie arrives ahead of the Halloween season.

Directed by Daniel Stamm, known for ‘The Last Exorcism’ and ‘The Light in the Darkness’, the film is inspired by an episode of the ‘Knifepoint Horror’ podcast. The plot follows Ellen (Gugino), a woman who moves to a small town following her mother's death and takes in her cousin Winthrop (Lou Taylor Pucci), an army veteran with a troubled past. As strange occurrences begin to unfold, Ellen must determine if Winthrop is merely haunted by his history or if something more sinister is at play.

Screenwriter Justin Yoffe crafted a story that director Daniel Stamm described as radically original and difficult to categorize within standard genre tropes. The film explores themes of grief, loyalty, and dark secrets. The cast also includes Katharine Isabelle, Jed Rees, Donald Sales, and Madeleine Kelders.
