Lockheed Martin announces $1.8 billion offset package for Peru F-16 program

Lockheed Martin has announced a $1.8 billion industrial and social offset package for Peru following the country's recent purchase of twelve F-16C/D Block 70 multirole fighter jets. The agreement aims to integrate Peruvian companies into Lockheed Martin's global supply chain to foster economic growth and strengthen defense industrial bases in both nations.

The comprehensive package includes opportunities for the co-production of defense equipment and advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS), with plans for national assembly of a drone intended for the Latin American market. Additionally, the initiative features specialized engineering training, a new curriculum for a space academy, and the establishment of joint research centers and a technical institute for remote-piloted aircraft systems.

This collaboration also focuses on expanding high-tech maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities within Peru. The F-16 program is intended to position Peru as a regional hub for aerospace services and advanced unmanned systems, while enhancing the aerial sovereignty and operational readiness of the Fuerza Aérea del Perú (FAP).
