Lockheed Martin announces major U.S. munitions manufacturing expansion

Lockheed Martin is undertaking a massive expansion of its munitions manufacturing capabilities across the United States, aiming to create 6,000 new jobs by 2030. This initiative is part of a broader $8 billion to $9 billion investment commitment to modernize or expand more than 20 U.S. facilities.

In Texas, the company is investing $300 million into its Grand Prairie operations. This expansion will increase the site's manufacturing footprint to over 735,000 square feet and includes the integration of automated production cells supplied by Hadrian. The facility produces components for critical programs such as PAC-3 MSE, THAAD, PrSM, and JATM.

Additionally, a Lockheed Martin plant in Pike County, Alabama, has received a $1 million federal grant to support an expansion expected to generate 300 new jobs. The company is also collaborating with GM Defense to incorporate automotive manufacturing expertise into its defense production processes.
