Lockheed Martin cannot guarantee Patriot PAC‑3 missile deliveries to US allies, Romania on waiting list
Lockheed Martin announced it cannot provide firm delivery dates for PAC‑3 MSE interceptors used in Patriot air‑defence systems to United States allies, despite a programme to triple production. The comment was made by Brian Dunn, vice‑president for strategy and development, at the ILA Berlin air show.
The company seeks to raise output to 750 missiles per year by 2027 under a $4.76 billion contract with the U.S. Department of Defense, with a longer‑term target of 2 000 per year by 2033. Lockheed Martin stressed that it does not control how the missiles are allocated among users.
Allies awaiting the missiles include Germany, Japan, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Romania, which is currently on the waiting list. Boeing has also signed a seven‑year agreement with the Pentagon to expand production of guidance units for the PAC‑3.
