Lockheed Martin connects 16 F-35 simulators for multidomain training

Lockheed Martin successfully conducted a two-hour multidomain mission training exercise by connecting 16 F-35 full-mission simulators located across four different military bases. The distributed training exercise integrated simulators from Marine Corps air stations in Yuma, Miramar, and Iwakuni, as well as Naval Air Station Lemoore.

To enhance the complexity of the scenario, the exercise also incorporated F/A-18 simulators and an E-2D Hawkeye command aircraft element from Naval Air Station Oceana. Using its tactical environment simulation infrastructure, Lockheed Martin created a scenario covering air, surface, and cyber domains. This allowed geographically separated crews and command groups to operate within a single, unified operational picture.

Ken Garrett, Vice President of F-35 Training and Logistics at Lockheed Martin, noted that such training is essential to prepare combatants for real-world missions where they must coordinate complex tasks over long distances. The company reported that the exercise achieved all training objectives, maintaining robust command and control, continuous situational awareness, and stable data exchange throughout the simulation.
