Lockheed Martin launches Quantum Innovation Center for national security
Lockheed Martin has launched the Quantum Innovation Center (QuIC), a centralized hub designed to transition academic research into practical, operational technologies for national security. The center focuses on advancing capabilities in areas such as advanced computing, sensor technology, communications, and navigation.
QuIC aims to bridge the gap between experimental research and large-scale system implementation by combining the company’s engineering standards with accelerated development timelines. The initiative builds upon the company’s 15 years of quantum expertise and follows the model established by the Lockheed Martin AI Center (LAIC).
To foster external innovation, the center will evaluate and integrate breakthroughs from third-party startups. This effort is supported by Lockheed Martin Ventures, which has expanded its investment fund to $1 billion to target emerging technologies.
