Locride project proposes 2028 Italian Capital of Archaeology title

The Locride region has launched the “Locride 2028 – Capitale Italiana dell’Archeologia e del Turismo Storico” project. Coordinated by GAL Terre Locridee and Officine delle Idee, the initiative aims to leverage the area's historical and archaeological heritage to drive regional development and tourism.

Following an initial launch at the Festival Dialog in Casignana, the project will be presented on October 31 at the XXVIII Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico in Paestum. This presentation will take place within the Calabria Region space, a significant national and international event for cultural tourism.

Local mayors and municipal representatives recently met to discuss the vision, expressing unanimous support for the initiative. The project seeks to transcend administrative boundaries by using the territory's shared history and cultural resources as a foundation for future growth.
