Lod: Five-year-old boy dies after being left in family car

A five-year-old boy, identified as Betzalel Dovid Giller, passed away in Lod after being left inside a family vehicle for approximately two hours. The incident occurred after the family returned from a trip, during which the child had fallen asleep in his car seat. The family exited the vehicle without realizing the boy was still inside.

Upon discovering the child unconscious approximately two hours later, his father alerted emergency services. First responders from Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah arrived to find the child suffering from signs of severe heatstroke, without a pulse or breathing. Despite intensive, prolonged resuscitation efforts and transport to Assaf Harofeh Hospital in a mobile intensive care unit, medical personnel were forced to pronounce him dead.

The tragedy has caused profound shock within the Chabad community in Lod. Emergency organizations have used the incident to remind the public of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles, noting that temperatures inside closed cars can rise to dangerous levels very quickly.
